Partnership with the Association pour les Handicapés de Malherbes

Creating meaningful impact where it matters most

McDonald’s is deeply committed to uplifting communities in every country where it operates, and Mauritius is no exception. Through concrete and ongoing actions, we support communities, empower individuals, and help create environments where everyone can thrive, especially those facing daily challenges.

In this line, one of our top priorities is to support children facing social, physical, or educational barriers. We believe that every child deserves access to a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment where they can learn, grow, and express themselves with confidence.

That is why we recently partnered with the Association pour les Handicapés de Malherbes (APLHDM), a non- profit organisation that supports children with specific educational needs and individuals who are differently abled.

As part of this initiative, McDonald’s actively contributed to improving the school’s learning environment through both material and hands-on support.
Renovation works were carried out, such as the repainting of the school’s exterior to create a brighter and more welcoming space for children and staff.

In addition, essential and specialised equipment was provided, including comfort-related items and materials for the physiotherapy room, carefully selected to support both academic development and daily care needs.

The initiative also included a dedicated activity designed to foster connection, inclusion, and shared ownership. A particularly meaningful moment was the creation of a collective mural on the theme “Land and Sea.”
Conceptualised in collaboration with our local strategic communications partner Blast Burson and brought to life by the children alongside McDonald’s employees, the mural fostered imagination, collaboration, and shared joy.

To extend the spirit of this engagement beyond the school environment, our restaurant in Tribeca welcomed the beneficiaries from APLHDM on the occasion of World Children’s Day, celebrated each year on 20 November.

This shared moment focused on joy, inclusion, and togetherness, and concluded with the children being among the first to discover the McDonald’s newly inaugurated Playland in Mauritius.

Grounded in sustained engagement and meaningful partnerships, this collaboration reflects McDonald’s broader approach to responsible growth and community involvement, alongside operational excellence and innovation as core pillars of the brand’s strategy.

It is also in line with our long-term commitment towards Mauritius and its communities, with many more initiatives to come. Stay tuned!
